The various basic insurance models all offer the same benefits. The only difference between the models is the choice of first point of contact for medical questions. The benefits provided under basic insurance include:

How the GP model works

Under the Favorit Casa general practitioner model, your general practitioner is your primary contact for all your health-related questions.

You choose your general practitioner from the comprehensive directory of doctors.
You contact your general practitioner whenever you experience a health problem. You and your doctor then discuss the best way to proceed, decide on the right specialist and hospital if needed, and agree on any further treatment measures to take.
No co-payment (does not affect your excess and deductible): For any telemedicine services that santé24 provides (advice, consultations with experts and doctors), as long as basic insurance covers them. Exceptions include: advice and consultations in conjunction with nutrition advice and the psychological/psychiatric counselling service.

Frequently asked questions about the GP model

With the family doctor model you get an attractive discount on your premiums and the same benefits as under the Standard basic insurance. The only difference is the choice of contact point: under the general practitioner model, your first point of contact for medical matters is always your general practitioner from our directory of doctors. She or he will also discuss with you any further steps in your treatment.

When you switch from the Standard basic insurance plan to the GP plan, SWICA gives you a discount of between 8% and 15.5% on your premiums. The exact discount depends on where you live, your age and your chosen excess. Below, we have provided examples of how the minimum and maximum possible discounts are determined under the GP plan:

Minimum discount: Adult aged 26 or over, living in Frauenfeld, excess: CHF 300, no accident cover, standard premium: CHF 512.90, with 8% discount: monthly premium of CHF 466.80.
Maximum discount: Adult aged 26 or over, living in Weggis, excess: CHF 300, no accident cover, standard premium: CHF 487.20, with 15.5% discount: monthly premium of CHF 411.70.
